Week of September 15, 2024
The US electric school bus industry notched a major milestone with 12,000 ESBs deployed (or to be deployed soon). The IAA Hanover event provided a number of industry announcements like Renault introducing a H2 delivery van and CATL unveiling a next-gen HD battery that can be configured to support 4C charge rates or up to 15 year life. ZF had two big announcements at IAA: supplying Ford Trucks with electric drives and partnering with Foton Truck on HD hybrid electric drivetrains (see This Week's Top Pick below for further comments). Volvo CE is expanding its EV construction offerings into midsize wheel loaders and Hyzon/Fontaine announced production of a Class 8 FC truck featuring a single 200kW fuel stack. DOE is pumping $72M into its SuperTruck HD EV charging project, while Ballard restructures to better match the slower H2 fuel cell uptake than previously forecasted. But that's not all, so be sure to check out the complete list of curated headline news below. Happy reading and have a great weekend!

Foton Motor holds 10% of the HD Truck market in China and an even larger share of China’s heavy-duty truck exports. Foton and ZF are the latest to announce Hybrid product plans for the HD truck market – first in China, then expanding globally.
Ford Motor Company’s CEO, Jim Farley, visited China recently and experienced today’s EVs up close and personal. He was “blown away”by BYD’s “elegant, low-cost engineering” and their “ride quality and high tech features”…
